Before we get started..
Odd little film that starts out with "What career do you want to get into?" and doesn't really veer from that for like half the film (what was that foreign language bit about?) until finally it centres on the task at hand, yes, getting you ready to become master architects! Doesn't really get into anything specific, just tells you what you're about to learn, and does give you nice shots of architects at work.

Why You Took Drafting - A Career Guidance Film
Goes through a very general discussion of what mechanical drawings are for. I was amused by the cursive style "2" in that drawing. All our numbers and letters HAD to be block letters - or "minus 5 points."
Would be a useful film today if we still produced any tangible goods, but these days everybody just counts beans, make checklists, works in a restaurant, or pushes people around hospitals on carts.
Very 1948 informative; no people stuff to amuse, and no camp value.
